Home Remedies For Bunion Treatment

Many people seek remedies for bunion treatment, because bunions can be embarrassing and painful.

The easiest and cheapest solution to bunion and foot pain is bunion treatment with natural cures.

What is a bunion

Bunion, also known as (hallux valgus), is a bony bump and thick skin that appears on the joint below the base of the large or small toe.

It causes the big toe to move towards the smaller toes.

When the bony bump rubs against the shoe, the skin reddens, swells, and become painful.

What causes bunion

Bunions are more common in women because of high heels, and pointed toe shoes.

These shoes manipulate the shape of the foot over a period of time.

Bunions are common with older people especially with arthritis. If a leg is longer than the other, you are likely to develop bunions on the longer leg.

Weak ligaments in the feet can also cause bunions.

Genetic and neuromuscular diseases as well as family history of bunions can also be responsible for the problem.

Symptoms of bunions

Some symptoms of bunion include redness, swelling, pain and discomfort of the toe.

Other symptoms include hammer toe and corns on the joint of the toe.

Natural remedies for bunion treatment

Bunion pains can be relieved with these simple natural home remedies.

How to relieve bunion pain with Stretching

One of the best ways to relieve or eliminate bunion pains is to stretch your big toe.

Sit down with legs outstretched on the floor with your heels side by side and touching.

Loop a rubber band about 3 inches long and ¼ inch thick around both big toes.

While keeping your heels together, move the tops of you feet apart to form a “V” shape.

Hold your feet stretched for about 10 seconds and then relax.

Repeat this process for about 20 times. If you hurt, just do it a few times and progress to 20 times.

Your bunion pain will eventually be relieved.

Bunion treatment with Aspirin

This is a very effective way to relieve pains of bunion.

Crush 4 tablets of aspirin in a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 15 minutes or longer.

Help for bunion with Castor oil

Castor oil is good for reducing bunion inflammation.

After you soak your foot in aspirin water, rub the castor oil on your bunion.

Cover the oil with a soft bandage for the oil to stay in place.

You may also soak your feet in water for 30 minutes at night and rub them with St. John’s Wort oil

Vitamins and Supplements treatment

  • Take 500 mg of bromelain 3 times a day to reduce inflammation of the joint.

White willow also relieves pain on bunions. Take 5 ml of tincture a day.

Take 25,000 IU of vitamin A a day for 4-6 weeks to soothe bunion pains.

    Bunion treatments

When bunions have developed to a stage, causing so much discomfort and pain, you will need to see a physician.

A surgery may be required to correct bunions that get progressively worse.

Or orthotics (insoles and supports) and adequate footwear are recommended by the podiatrist. Inexpensive bunion splints are also available for treatment.

If you have a corrective surgery on your bunions, you may need some homeopathic remedies to soothe the pain and speed up recovery.

    Arnica - natural remedy

Arnica can be taken internally a day before surgery and 3 days following the surgery.

This will ease the swelling, bruising, and tenderness.

    Hypericum for bunion pain

Hypericum eases shooting pains and tenderness in the foot.

Severe pains occur especially when the foot is moved or knocked suddenly.

Follow the dosage instructions on the labels for proper usage.

There is no special diet for bunion treatment.

It is just healthy to eat a well balanced diet including vegetables, fruits and grains.

Include plenty of liquid in your diet.

Consult your physician before using these remedies, especially if you are on any medication.
