Home Remedies For Cough
The Easy Drug-Free Method

Home remedies for cough are simple but effective means to treat dry cough, wet cough with phlegm, chronic cough and irritants.

Coughing is a normal part of the body’s immune system and respiratory defense system.

It is a reaction to an irritant, such as respiratory infection, bacteria, or allergen, that stimulates the production of mucus in the airways.

There are two types of cough: a dry, hard tickly cough and a wet rattling cough with phlegm.

Most of the time, cough is nothing to worry about. It may just be a simple clearing of the throat or a symptom of respiratory infection or a passing cold.

The goal of coughing is to allow the body to expel foreign matter and detoxify. This prevents suppression of diseases so that they don’t turn into something more serious, such as bronchitis.

Certain drugs such as some high blood pressure medications are believed to trigger coughing as a potential side effect.

Other triggers and cough irritants include cold, damp weather conditions, air pollution, and cigarette smoke.

If the cough lasts more than two weeks, brings up blood, and is accompanied by shortness of breath, consult a doctor immediately.
